Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The short version: only what helps us serve you — and we never sell your data.
This Privacy Policy describes how Trellium, LLC(doing business as “Troutracker,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Troutracker app, this website, and related services (together, the “Service”).
- We never sell or rent your personal information — not to data brokers, not to advertisers, not to anyone.
- We collect as little as possible — only what we need to give you the best information, experience, and safety on the water.
- Your journal is yours. Your entries, catches, photos, and saved spots are private to your account and are not shared with other users or with fly shops.
- No third-party ad tracking. We don't run advertising networks or track you across other websites.
- You stay in control. You can access, correct, export, or delete your information at any time.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you create an account we collect your name and email address (and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information that provider shares). As you use the Service you may add content such as journal entries, photos, marked fishing spots and locations, gear and fly records, and notes. If you contact a fly shop or us through a form, we collect what you submit (for example your name, email, phone number, the area you fish, and your message).
Location information.Features like maps, saved spots, and local conditions use location data you choose to add or capture. Your saved spots and journal locations are private to your account, and we don't use them to build advertising or location profiles.
Payment information.Subscriptions are handled by our payment processor. We don't store your full card number — the processor does, under its own strict obligations.
Information collected automatically.Like most online services, we collect basic device and usage information (such as browser type, app version, pages or screens viewed, and log data) to operate, secure, and improve the Service. We keep this to the minimum needed and don't use it to track you across other sites.
2. How we use information
We use information only for the purposes below — to run the Service well and keep you safe, never to profile you for sale or outside advertising:
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To personalize your experience and the recommendations, conditions, and guidance the Service provides to you.
- To communicate with you about your account, updates, and support.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- To keep the Service and our community safe, prevent abuse, and comply with the law.
3. Voice and AI-assisted features
Some features — like talking with our in-app guide, recording spoken field notes, and personalized recommendations — are powered by trusted third-party providers acting on our behalf. Your input is processed only to provide the feature you asked for. We explain this in plain terms, including what we do and don't allow providers to do with your data, in our Use of AI statement.
4. How we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only in these limited ways:
- Service providers. We use vendors that help us operate the Service — hosting and database infrastructure, voice and transcription, mapping, weather/conditions, email, and payment processing. They may handle information on our behalf, only as needed to perform their service, and under contracts that bar them from using it for their own purposes.
- Fly shops. If you join a fly shop’s branded version of Troutracker, that shop can publish content to you and see that you are a member. A fly shop cannot see your private journal, catches, notes, or saved spots.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of our users and the Service.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction — and this Policy will continue to govern it.
5. Your choices and rights
You can access and update much of your information directly in the app. You may also ask us to provide a copy of your information, correct it, or delete your account and associated data. You can opt out of marketing email at any time using the unsubscribe link.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights. See our GDPR notice (European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland) and our California Privacy notice. To make a request, contact us using the details below; we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
6. Cookies
We use a small set of cookies to keep the Service working and remember your choices, and we ask for your consent before using any non-essential cookies. Details and controls are in our Cookie Policy.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward only as needed to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls that keep each user’s private content separated. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. International users and data transfers
We operate in the United States, and our providers may process information in the U.S. and other countries. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers, as described in our GDPR notice.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
