Use of AI
Some Troutracker features are AI-assisted. Here's exactly where, how we protect your data, and how you stay in control.
We believe in being straight with you about how Troutracker works. A few features use artificial intelligence to help you spend less time fiddling and more time fishing. This statement explains where, how your information is handled, and the limits you should keep in mind.
1. Where we use AI
- Your in-app guide. You can ask questions by voice or text and get conversational, plain-language help — flies to try, knots, tactics, and how to use the app.
- Voice notes. When you record a spoken field note, we transcribe it into text so it's searchable in your journal.
- Personalized suggestions. We use what you put in — like your gear, recent outings, and local conditions — to tailor recommendations and make the app more useful to you.
2. How your information is handled
These features are powered by trusted third-party providers acting on our behalf. We choose them carefully, and:
- Your input is processed only to provide the feature you asked for.
- We bind providers by contract to handle your data on our behalf and not for their own purposes. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your private journal content to build advertising profiles.
- We do not allow your personal content to be used to train providers' general-purpose models without your consent.
- Voice and AI-assisted processing is covered by our Privacy Policy; if you're in Europe or the UK, see our GDPR notice.
3. AI assists you — it doesn't replace your judgment
AI-assisted suggestions are helpful, but they can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong. Treat them as a starting point, not the final word — especially for anything that affects your safety.
Always confirm conditions, water levels, weather, access, and fishing regulations from official sources before you head out, and never rely on the Service as your only safety measure. See the safety section of our Terms & Conditions.
4. You stay in control
These features support you — they don't make automated decisions about you that carry legal or similarly significant effects. You decide what to record, what to act on, and whether to use voice features at all. The core journal, fly box, and reference tools work without them.
5. Helping us improve
We work to make these features more accurate and more useful over time. If a suggestion seems off, let us know — your feedback helps, and you can always edit or delete content in your journal.
6. Changes to this statement
As our AI-assisted features evolve, we'll keep this statement current and update the date above when we make material changes.
